Prayers are Powerful

I just finished the book that I got yesterday called The Last Lecture. It was a truly amazing story that was inspirational! His attitude about life never changed throughout his illness. I went online last night and watched his "Last Lecture" and read his blog that was updated regularly by him. If you have a chance, the blog is astonishing.

There is a parent at my school going through chemo right now as I type this. I should clarify, she is not just a parent, but a friend, an inspiration, and a hero to many. Just being in the same room with her is invigorating. She would make a huge lunch and invite us (the teachers) to her house during our break for a home-made feast. I had her oldest son in 6th grade 4 years ago (now a sophomore), and her youngest is now entering 6th grade. They have 3 kids. She had breast cancer 5 years ago and had a full mastectomy and was cancer-free. Over the summer she found a swollen lymph node under her arm that she "had a feeling" wasn't right. They removed lymph nodes, ran tests, and discovered an area higher in her chest that is cancerous. She is going through chemo now and having a tough time with it. "Sick" doesn't even begin to describe it. If you have any room on your prayer list, please pray for her and her family as they travel on this rocky road. It breaks my heart to hear about this happening to her, knowing full well we are following right behind her on the chemo trail. I pray for strength... for ALL of us.

Jackie, the City of Hope has many similar stories as you both will witness, It all comes down to attitude. Hope and Despair are the same two wolves we live with daily. The wolf that runs our life depends on the one we feed every day, our choice.
Mass today is for both of you. Know you are constantly in my thoughts and prayers.
All my love! Dad

Oh Jackie, you are so strong right now! There is pain all around you and that is why you must take each moment as it comes and not project too far beyond NOW. Anticipation can drive you crazy. The strength within you is your unselfishness and your kind and loving beauty.
There is a reason why this pain follows our lives but just know that none of it is within our control. You can, and must, do everything it takes within your power to be strong but when the tire meets the road, the most powerful tool for that strength is prayer. Therefore, my gift to you, to Bill and Tyler, all the famiy and your friend and her family are my daily prayers to the Blessed Mother that she will intercede on your/their/our behalf. Have faith because she does intercede...
Loving you all, Aunt Judy

Hi Bill, Jackie and family. As I catch up on all the news I can't help but think, Bill you were always there for me when I needed a friend and now I live so far away in your time of need, however I am still with you and I think and pray for you daily. Jackie thank you for time spent with this blog, I am sure it is time consuming but for those of us seperated by the miles, it is appreciated. Take care of each other, Chris Kubas

JAC,
I heard about R Pausch last April when a close friend shared it with me. He has been and his book will be an inspiration and a guide for everyone. I bought copies to give to Kris and Amy for Christmas. But, reading your notes reminded me it's silly to wait. We never know what will happen between today and tomorrow. Hopefully his story can help teach us and remind us how to make each day count.
You're all in my thoughts and prayers. Again, thanks for sharing!
Love, Aunt Mary

Again I am overwhelmed by all of the love and support coming to you daily. It is a testament to who you both are as loving and caring human beings. I'm so grateful to God for my family and friends and for showing us all how important we all are for each other.
See you soon. My love,Mom

Bill & Jackie:

Our thoughts and prayers are with you especially this week as you will hopefully learn more about Bill's treatment plan. The City of Hope is the best and offered and continues to offer great medical care and hope for Joey. The "waiting game" is the worst and you need to lean on your faith, family and friends, all of which will carry you through this. We will be watching for updates this week.

Blessings, Brett & Kathy & family
